Breast Explant

Restore your natural confidence.

Breast explant surgery — the removal of breast implants — is a personal and empowering decision. Whether your choice is driven by a change in aesthetic goals, physical discomfort, or health concerns, our team at Body Aesthetic Plastic Surgery provides compassionate, individualized care to support you through every step of the process.

Why Women Choose Breast Explant Surgery

There are many reasons someone may consider having implants removed:

  • Lifestyle or aesthetic changes – Preferring a more natural appearance or different body proportion.
  • Physical discomfort – Addressing tightness, pain, or changes in breast shape over time.
  • Implant concerns – Including rupture, capsular contracture, or shifts in implant position.
  • Health considerations – Some patients pursue removal due to systemic symptoms associated with breast implant illness.

Your consultation is a time to discuss your goals, review your implant history, and explore the most suitable options for rem oval and reshaping.

What to Expect From the Procedure

Breast explant surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The procedure may involve:

  • Implant removal – Taking out the implant through an incision, often along the scar from your original surgery.
  • Capsulectomy – Removing scar tissue (the capsule) surrounding the implant, partial or total depending on your specific needs.
  • Breast lift (mastopexy) – In some cases, reshaping or lifting the breast to create a natural contour after removal.

Dr. Boswell will tailor the approach to achieve the safest and most aesthetic outcome possible.

Recovery and Results

You should be able to return to work within a week after surgery if your job does not demand a high level of activity. Most normal activities can be resumed within 1 or 2 weeks, but exercise should not begin until you are fully healed, usually 4 to 6 weeks.

Incision scars will be firm and pink for at least 6 weeks and may remain the same size for several months, or even appear to widen. After several months, your scars will begin to soften and fade. Although they will not disappear completely, they should be inconspicuous when fully healed.

Our goal is to help you feel comfortable, confident, and supported during your transition to a natural, balanced result.
